This St. Patrick’s Day weekend will mark the German debut of Some One’s Sons.

Some One’s Sons, a traditional Irish band from the heart of Ireland, will be performing in Augsburg, at Murdocks Irish Pub on March 17th and O’Sullivans Irish Pub on March 18th.

Hot off their sold out gig in Ireland’s premier music venue, Whelans, and a performance at Irelands biggest music festivals, Electric Picnic and the “Fleadh Ceoil”, lead singers Daniel and Greg spoke about their upcoming Augsburg gigs, playing styles and their debut single.

“Germany was top of the list when deciding to play internationally”, said Daniel. “Last St. Patrick’s Day we had a marching band from Rastede come to a gig in our hometown. The energy was electric! So when we had the opportunity to go to Germany we jumped on it.”

“The German people have always had a great love for Irish music.” Greg noted. “There are a lot of similarities in our countries folk music styles. These gigs will entertain both Irish music fans and newcomers to the genre”

The young four-piece have quickly grown in popularity, due to their energetic performances of Irish trad classics. The Sons are noted for their rich harmonies, charismatic and lively sets, while handling ballads with a delicate and passionate touch. Their debut single, set to be released on March 10th, captures the unrefined ruggedness of the band. “The single is our rendition of an old Irish rebellion song, sang in our native language”, Daniel explained. “It’s called, ‘Óró sé do bheatha Bhaile’, which translates to ‘Welcome Home’. It’s a very powerful ballad that is close to the hearts of Irish people, both home and abroad. Singing it outside of Ireland will be a very special moment for us.”

“Some Ones Sons will follow Mick [Foster], with Marty saying he was 'blown away by the band during the Fleadh. They were the stars of the TG4 show that went out and played in the Market Square surrounded by thousands of people”

“We’re very excited to be finally heading to Germany” remarked Daniel. “We’ve never gone as a band, and we’ve only ever gone for pints and a good time”. When asked what to expect from the gigs in Murdocks and O’Sullivans, Greg said to “get ready for upbeat, lively sets of classic traditional Irish songs. Whether it’s your first or one hundredth time listening to Irish music, you’re in for a great night!”
